Mainit Illusion evokes Asian dive bars, jeepneys and Red Horse beer on ice.
Working across sound, installation, video and performance, Filipinx artists from the Kulin and Eora Nations come together to present newly commissioned artworks inspired by the legacy of videoke in the Philippines for Mainit Illusion, a multidisciplinary exhibition across Arts House from 19 February to 23 March.

On Saturday 24 February, you’re invited to join the artists for Mainit Fantasy, a one-night LA curated spectacle of art, performance and uncut karaoke.

‘Mainit’ is a Filipino word meaning hot or humid and is a common expression used to describe the intensity of summer heat felt across the archipelago. Drawing on tropical kitsch and voyeurism, Mainit Fantasy / Mainit Illusion invites you to descend upon Arts House for a steamy post-paradise experience. Be sure to pack your sweatrag.
